Somatic Pathways

Grounded support for your body

Honouring ancestral South Asian wisdom and modern somatic practices to help you release stress, process trauma, and return to your natural state of ease.

Our services

Noor is here to support your mind, body and wellbeing; whatever that looks like for you.

Therapy should be a space where you do not have to leave important parts of yourself at the door. Abira welcomes people from diverse cultural, racial, religious and spiritual backgrounds and recognises that wellbeing can be shaped by family, community, identity, disability, migration, intergenerational experiences, racism and broader social systems.

Sessions are collaborative and guided by your needs, goals and preferences. You will be supported to make informed choices about the approaches used, and you are always welcome to ask questions, slow down, pause or decline an activity.

Not sure what you need? That's exactly where most people start. Have a look around, try a tincture, book a session, or reach out and we'll figure it out together.

Somatic Therapy

Somatic therapy brings attention to the relationship between thoughts, emotions and physical sensations. Rather than relying only on conversation, sessions may also explore how stress and emotion are experienced through breathing, posture, tension, movement and other bodily sensations.

Abira’s approach is informed by elements of Hakomi and Somatic Experiencing. Depending on your comfort and goals, this may include grounding, mindful awareness, gentle movement, breath awareness or noticing sensations in the body.

Somatic work is always collaborative and consent-based. Exercises are offered as invitations rather than requirements, and you remain in control of your participation throughout the session.

Brainspotting

Brainspotting is a gentle, focused approach that can support you to explore experiences that may be difficult to fully express through words alone.

Using your visual field, Brainspotting creates space to notice and process emotions, memories and body-based responses at your own pace. It can be particularly supportive when you feel emotionally stuck, overwhelmed or disconnected from what you are experiencing.

Abira integrates Brainspotting with talk therapy and somatic awareness, allowing sessions to feel both reflective and embodied. The process is collaborative, and you remain in control of what you explore and how deeply you wish to engage.

Brainspotting may be helpful for people wanting support with grief, trauma, emotional blocks, stress or recurring patterns that feel difficult to shift through conversation alone.

Breathwork

Breathwork offers a way to slow down, reconnect with your body and create space for emotions that may be difficult to access through words.

Abira’s approach includes circular breathwork, a connected style of breathing that can support deeper awareness, emotional expression and a stronger sense of connection with yourself. Sessions are guided with care and can be adapted to your pace, intentions and level of comfort.

Breath-based practices hold significance across many cultural, spiritual and healing traditions. Abira approaches this work with respect for those histories and recognises that culture, faith, ancestry and personal meaning may shape how a person relates to the breath.

For some clients, breathwork may feel like a grounding therapeutic practice. For others, it may connect with spiritual, cultural or ancestral ways of understanding healing. You are welcome to bring these parts of yourself into the session, and the practice can be shaped in a way that feels respectful and meaningful to you.

Breathwork sessions may support emotional processing, self-awareness, grounding and a greater sense of connection between the mind and body. A consultation with Abira is recommended before booking so that the session can be tailored to your needs and intention

Counselling and Therapeutic Support

Abira is trained in a range of therapeutic approaches, including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), DBT-informed strategies, Schema Therapy and Brainspotting.

Depending on your needs, sessions may include reflective conversation, practical strategies, emotional processing or gentle body-based practices. Therapy does not follow a single formula. Abira works collaboratively with each person to develop an approach that reflects their goals, circumstances, culture and preferred pace.

Some people may prefer structured strategies and practical tools, while others may benefit from a more reflective, relational or body-aware approach. These preferences can be discussed and adjusted throughout therapy.

Social Work and Advocacy

Abira has many years of experience as a social worker and can provide support with advocacy, service navigation and complex systems. This may include assistance with disability services, access to appropriate supports, communication with organisations and issues connected to equity or social justice.

Social work services may be available privately or through eligible NDIS funding. The services that can be accessed will depend on your goals, the type of support required and how your NDIS plan is managed.

Lilac Services is an approved NDIS provider for:

  • Early Childhood Supports

  • Behaviour Support

  • Therapeutic Supports

Abira’s work through Lilac Services includes specialist positive behaviour support. This work aims to understand the reasons a behaviour may be occurring, strengthen quality of life and develop respectful, practical and evidence-informed supports in collaboration with the person, their family and their wider support team.

Sliding-scale somatic support

We operate on a community-funded model to ensure somatic healing remains accessible. If our standard rates are a barrier, our sliding-scale options are here to support you.

By choosing our services, you also support our mutual-aid model, helping us provide donated sessions to BIPoC community members who need them most.
